Election Day - Saturday 15 October 2011
Local Government Election Day is Saturday, 15 October 2011. The City's Administration Centre at 7 Orchard Avenue Armadale will be open from 8am to 6pm on Saturday 15 October 2011 to receive Ballot Papers and issue replacement packages.
The Council of the City Armadale comprises 14 Councillors who are elected to serve the whole of the Armadale district. The City is divided into seven wards with two Councillors representing each ward for a four year term. These wards are as follows: Council Elections are held every two (2) years and voting is not compulsory. Counting of votes will be conducted on a "First Past the Post" basis and will occur on 15 October 2011 The City’s 2011 elections will be conducted on a “postal voting” basis and as such the Western Australian Electoral Commissioner will be responsible for the conduct of the elections. The Returning Officer for the elections is Mr Peter Zaikos and he can be contacted on 0467 804 238 or by email ro.armadale@bigpond.com Once polls close at 6pm on Election Day, the counting of votes will start in the Council Chambers on the first floor of the City’s Administration Centre, 7 Orchard Avenue Armadale. Election results will be announced by the Returning Officer on the night and will subsequently be published on this website with public notices also appearing in the West Australian and local newspapers a few days following. Successful candidates will be sworn in at an Ordinary Meeting of Council to be held on Monday 17 October 2011 commencing at 7pm in the Council Chambers at the City’s Administration Centre, 7 Orchard Avenue Armadale. Also at this meeting Councillors will elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for a two (2) year term until the next elections in 2013.
